Beach Day Essentials…

Hello Beautiful People,

Before I get started I want to say something. As you may know I’m currently on holiday. Spending time here has made me realize that whatever you go through in life whether it is tough, hard and upsetting, just know that giving up is not the answer. There are always good days to come and even though you might not see it, I DO! Always be happy, grateful and hopeful, what you may not see but want now is what you could have tomorrow. Always smile!

  • Little advice from, yours truly, Ela.

Now we can start, today I will be talking about my pool/beach essentials with a twist (more like a day at the beach with me). Let’s see if I can give you a short version of my day.

unnamed-7

I wake up to this view, I know! It is beautiful. The sun peeking through the balcony door and the sound of the waves waking me up, is life. I didn’t include my breakfast as I was too excited to get into the pool and then the beach so I literally had the smallest slice of butter and jam with blackcurrant juice. What comes next? Easy 5 plus hours in the beach and the pool.

unnamed-8

So the first thing is quite heavy especially if you have to carry it all the way from England, like me. My pink shell pool float, I know what you’re thinking, it’s from Urban Outfitters I bought it for £24.50 with student discount. It was on sale for £28 pounds! I love it though, I didn’t want the unicorn one so when I saw this one, it was love at first sight. Let me tell you big or not, you need a float, why? Because it is so much fun and no I don’t mean laying on it and enjoying the sun. No no! Being pushed off it and trying to get back on it while having two other people fight over it is the fun part! It’s all for the laughs…

I also carry a towel with me, who doesn’t? I don’t like it when I get out the water and have to walk while I look like a walking rain.  It’s purple but my favourite colour is grey.

unnamed-2

The next important thing is (the most important) and that is a sunscreen. I use the HAWAIIAN Tropic- Satin protection. This one is non-greasy and leaves the skin looking radiant. Why do you need this? Because right now my sisters are complaining of sunburn whereas I’m enjoying life.

In my list of beach essentials, my sunglasses come next! These ones I bought from Westfield Stratford, London, at the sunglasses stand (on the bottom floor). I love this style, cat-eye, Dior look alike ones.

I didn’t include my phone as I was using it to take the photos but I do bring that with me alongside my earphones. Sunbathing and listening to music for me is perfect and I still can fall asleep! Try waking me up, nope not happening.

A hairband and a clip is a must, if you have Tarzan hair like me you know the difficulties of trying to swim with it. Not pleasant at all. Whereas when I tie it up I can at least see where I’m going, so it is definitely an essential for me.

unnamed-3

Water is a must! I get dehydrated quickly and then hunt for a fizzy drink. But when I carry a water bottle around with me, it’s the first thing I reach for.

The last thing I carry with me is a nail polish. When I’m sunbathing and resting I do get bored easily so to pass time I do put nail polish on. This one is a holographic one from a brand called Golden Rose.

I carry all of this (yes, the towel too) in my beauty bag that I bought from Marks and Spencer it came in a set of three and was only £6.50.

unnamed-6

After hours of swimming, running and laughing with snacks in between I get hungry. Let me be honest, it isn’t the healthiest of foods. In fact, it’s the opposite but after a day full of activities, it is deserved.

unnamed-5

After eating I spend an hour in the pool and go to my hotel room and get ready for the evening. Here is today’s makeup and hair (with a filter of course). That was it for this post I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. If you did, like, comment and follow.

My Current Favourite Lip Products…

Hello Beautiful Readers,

I’m back! I’ll be honest, packing and travelling has been tiring. A week of packing, two planes and over 4 hours of travelling later, I feel drained. But saying that I am really excited to be here and I have some news for you! I am working on my content and my brain is bursting with different creative ideas that I want to put in action. Hopefully, you’ll be reading those soon, I don’t want to give any hints…Yet! Today’s post is for the makeup lovers out there who enjoy reading about beauty! Shall we begin?

unnamed-2

These lip products are my current faves, I enjoy using them so much that I brought them all abroad with me! The colours may seem similiar but they have different textures and finishes. I tend not to use dark lip colours as they make me look washed out (imagine Casper the ghost with a dark plum lipstick on). Yeah! It just doesn’t suit me! But I love it on other people so much, especially that vampire style look minus the blood. To die for! Not literally though. I guess you figured out that I love Twilight, Vampire Diaries and Teen Wolf. Anyways, as usual I’m going off topic. I will be going through them so you get an idea of how they look like, feel and last.  At the end you’ll see swatches of them on my skin.

unnamed-1

You have seen one of the products above in another post , however it is my fave so I thought I’ll show you again. These are the ‘CAUDALÍE: Lip Conditioner’ and ‘BURT’S BEES: Honey Miel Lip Balm.’ They are both hydrating, moisturising and even after wiping them off with wet wipes my lips feel soft. They are long lasting, the only time I had to apply them were after eating food. Honestly, the only difference is that they have different scents.  Lip balms are a must for me as during the cold and hot weathers my lips get really dry and the skin starts peeling off (eww, I know) so using these not only feel good but also help with the dryness.

unnamed-9

This first lipstick is called ‘Rimmel London: Moisture Renew’ in the colour ‘705-Let’s Get Naked.’ It is a pinky nude and lives up to its name. When applied it glides on to your lips, it feels oil based and drenches the lips with moisture. For a lipstick that is not matte it stays put really well and is my go to daytime lipstick.

unnamed-5

The second lipstick is called ‘Revlon Colourburst’ in the colour ‘095 Crème Brulee’ it is a brownish nude colour with a peachy shimmer. It is a nude sheer lipstick that leaves the lips looking glossy. I think this one is perfect for the summer, it goes with everything and leaves the lips feeling super soft. The shimmer in it is mixed well with the lipstick so I don’t feel irritated by them. This is a must, go and try it out, you won’t regret it!

Now let’s move on to the matte lipsticks that I love wearing…unnamed-7

This one is called ‘L’OREAL PARIS: Color Riche Lipstick’ in the shade ‘633- Moka Chic’.  I’ve talked abiut this product before, it is very pigmented and more of a sophisticated pinkish nude. I applied it on my lips and for a matte lipstick it felt like the Revlon lipstick. I searched the internet and found that it has Camellia oil which makes the lips feel moisturised and soft. That is what I love about it as no one would want to apply a matte lipstick that makes the lips feel dry and cracked. Would they?

unnamed-8

This one you may know as it is one of the most sold lipsticks within the brand. It is called ‘MAC’ in the shade ‘Velvet Teddy’ it is a a soft brown colour that does look like a nude and is very intense on the lips. When applied the colour is even and it has a matte finish which defines the lips. If you love brown matte shades then definitely go for this lipstick.

unnamed-10

The fifth lipstick is called ‘diego dalla palma’ in the colour ’94- Antique Pink’ like the previous lipsticks it has a creamy texture that glides on the lips, it has full coverage. The lips appear even and it has a semi-matte finish. Even though it is creamy, it does last a while without touch ups. It isn’t your usual pink colour, more classy and with hints of red and brown. I recently bought this and keep it with me all the time, I love the colour and finish!

unnamed-4

This is the ‘L’OREAL PARIS: Infallible Lip Gloss’ in the shade ‘210-Disco Ball’ what I love, love and I do mean love about this product is that is not sticky (at all). It is a lip gloss with high shine but when you do rub your lips together you can feel the shimmer particles, it is tolerable though nothing irritating. The applicator is shaped for an easy application.  The high shine within this lip gloss does make my lips appear bigger than usual. So if you do love a bold, in your face kind of lips then this product is for you.

unnamed-6This last product is an ‘Christian Dior Lip Liner’ in the shade ‘553- Heather rose’ it’s like a mauve pink colour with shimmer in it but it has a subtle glow to it. For a lip liner it is very smooth and firm so you do get a good use out of the lip liner. I use this as a lipstick and it doesn’t feel dry.

TIP: I use the Loreal lip gloss first and then put on the lip liner on top of it. It makes my lips look fuller and makes the lip gloss appear natural! Have a go with a lip liner and gloss of your choice!

Here are the swatches…

unnamed-12
Left to Right: Christian Dior lip liner, Mac- Velvet Teddy, diego dalla palma- Antique Pink, Loreal Paris-  Moka Chic, Rimmel London- Let’s Get Naked, Revlon- Crème Brulee and Loreal Paris- Disco Ball

Rosie For Autograph Makeup Review…

Hello Beautiful People,

Welcome to another blog post about makeup, I hope you enjoy reading these as much as I enjoy writing about them and taking photos of them. I love taking photos and editing them, like I’m not even kidding you have to see my photo gallery. I’m lucky to have more than enough storage! Okay, enough of me rambling (as always) and let me tell you what I’ve got in store… Today I will be reviewing, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s makeup line, ‘Rosie for Autograph’ that is sold exclusively at Marks & Spencer, (a British, multinational retailer) alongside her other lines, such as lingerie and fragrance. I have used these products for a couple of months now and wanted to give my own personal opinion on how they worked for me and if I recommend them for you to go out and try them for yourselves. A little disclaimer, I kind of cheated and added a filter on the swatches, I’m sorry I didn’t want to discontinue the theme. However, they are not far from their true shades and this is where will see how good I can use my blogging skills to give you a true description of their ‘true colours’ -no pun intended!

unnamed-2
I love how you see the reflection of the clouds on the products it took me a while to achieve that!

Firstly, let me tell you that the packaging is life. The rose gold packaging does catch the eye of the customers and my friends have admitted that the packaging is why they became interested in the products… Shall we get into the products? Yeah? Me think so too!

unnamed

The first product is an ‘Starstruck Contour Stick’ in the colour ‘Killer Contours’ it does not come in different shades but it is buildable, in that I mean the more you apply the more it becomes pigmented and darker it becomes. On the image above it looks really dark, but keep in mind that in real life it is a tone or two lighter and that was achieved by only two swipes. It is easy to blend when applied, with this product I like using a beauty blender and it just blends evenly and without appearing patchy.  However, I don’t know if it is just on my skin but I found that it doesn’t stay on for the whole day. What I did to solve this problem was just add powder bronzer on top and let me tell you it does work. I love the shade and how it feels lightweight on the skin.  This product costs £15.00.

The next product is an ‘Cream Blusher’ in the shade ‘Camisole Blusher’ it is a very Rosie tone, (yep we need to question those blogging skills). I mean more of a Autumn shade which you can wear in any season. On the website it looks more towards a pink shade but in real life it’s more of an earthy pink tone, try imagining that. No, but realistically it does have a brownish shade within it which creates a more fresh and natural look. I do not use any brushes for it, I apply it with my fingers and it spreads easily without drying out on one spot. I don’t usually wear blushers but this one looks really natural on the skin. It costs £14.00.

This product is an ‘Cream Eyeshadow Stick’ in the shade ‘Almond Eyes’ which is a beautiful pale gold colour. This eyeshadow stick is extremely pigmented, long lasting and has a metallic finish. It is perfect for a lid colour as well as a inner corner and brow bone highlight. It is very blendable and silky smooth, I also use it as a highlight and have recieved many compliments on it. It only costs £12.50, you get alot of product, (don’t judge it by its size) and you only need a small amount to make your eyes pop!

This next product is an lipstick in the shade ‘Lady Rose’ it is a more darker/ warmer tone of pink. Personally, to me it looks very vintage and is beautiful on the lips. I’ve looked at photos of the lipstick being worn by different people and it suits all skin tones.  It isn’t long lasting but is easy to reapply, you don’t need no liner, it looks amazing without it. It is very moisturising and hydrating. My lips feel so soft right now, it is unbelievable. This is a must, go try it out and see for yourself. It costs £14.00

unnamed-8

This product is an ‘Transclucent Finishing Powder’ called ‘Super Model Silk’ durrr Rosie is a model. Let me emphasise one thing though, it does live up to its name. The product leaves the skin feeling so silky. I compared it to the NYX powder and the NYX felt a bit artificial it had a weird feel to it (I love the product but this is what I thought when comparing both!) Whereas Rosie’s powder blends to the skin and you can feel your skin, it’s just more softer and smoother, like baby skin, no joke! I love the packaging because the product doesn’t just pour out, you have full contro, because of the net like material ontop of it. It costs £18.00.

unnamed-1

The last thing is the cute makeup bag, which is also in the colour rose gold. Ugh, how can you pass that up! Clever packaging, what can I say? I was lucky to get the makeup bag for free, as there was an offer going on at the time. However, it costs £16.00 it is compact, doesn’t take up alot of space yet fits your most used products that you need with you for the day. It also looks visually appealing so why not? Overall I enjoy using these products, I really don’t have anything negative to say about them (this blog post is NOT SPONSERED). They are good and I do recommend them, if you want to try out something new and more natural.

That was it for this blog post. I hope you found it useful and enjoyed reading it. Do comment, or email me any questions or suggestions for future posts! Check out my Instagram TheWhiteRose.ela and I’ll see you in my next post!

Until then with love,

A Tour Of My Desk…

Heyyy Beautiful People,

In this post, I’m showing you my desk and how it is set up. I’m the type of person to keep things simple and organised. Seriously… If my working space is messy, I have to clean it up in order to start let alone complete my work. I’m not even kidding! My friends know me well so when they call, they don’t ask what I’m doing.  Instead they say, “Ela, are you still organising your stuff, I swear you was cleaning yesterday too!” On the other hand, my mum goes, ” If only you cleaned the house the way you do your room then there will be no mess to clean up.” I’m not even exaggerating. Anyways, enough of me rambling and let’s get started….

unnamed-6

This is an overview of my desk. Now something I think you all will be wondering (and may know) is where my chair is from and the answer to that is…IKEA! I call it the ghost chair, it’s very comfy and stable.

Now, let’s move on to what is on my desk…

The first thing that I always keep on there is my imac. In no way am I trying to brag about what I have! In fact, this was a treat for me as from the age of 12 till about three years ago (at the age of 17) I didn’t have a computer, I used to stay at the library and go to my friend’s house to use the computer and printer. So, I was grateful for my parents when they gifted me this, it helped me a lot.

My laptop is also what I keep on my desk, but not all the time. When I write-up a coursework, my internet clusters up with loads of tabs and this not only confuses me but I find it difficult to keep up with the websites I’m looking at so I use two screens and minimise the amount of tabs I use by splitting them up. But as I said it is not always on my desk. I take my laptop to my university all the time as that is what I keep my notes on.

I also have marble sticky notes, for those who are wondering I purchased them from Primark… For the girls that have an addiction to marble! It’s okay!

If you’re wondering what’s on my screen (little bit of self promotion lol) it is my latest posts on TheWhiteRose.ela to check them out click the link Latest Blog Posts and scroll down….

unnamed-8

In this corner of my desk I have my two notebooks, I love, notebooks and as you may know I love marble ( I guess it’s obvious since 90% of my things are marble) and I enjoy writing to-do lists and notes to keep me organised. I have a candle which is from T.K. MAXX it’s called  T.J. MAXX in America, I know, I was confused too! I also have a plant that I bought from Urban Outfitters, it’s very refreshing and creates a calm and peaceful atmosphere, I definitely recommend keeping plants in your work space! The open notebook is there for visual purposes, I keep that one in my bag.

unnamed-5

This is my first drawer (the one on the left) as I said I like keeping things simple. In this drawer, I keep my USB SuperDrive as both my computer and laptop do not have cd slots. I also keep my old iPhone which is in its pink case, I sometimes need it for photos, apps and information that I haven’t transferred to my new phone. In the see through little box with polka dots, I keep my pain killers, its compact and makes my desk look tidy. The last three items is a small grey notebook, (I told you I love them), my reading glasses and my go to pencil case, that I use all the time… You’ll see why I said that in a moment. That is it for the first drawer, let’s move on to the second one.

unnamed-4

If you thought my first drawer was empty then this one you’ll find is emptier. I went on holiday and bought a sea shell, it was too pretty and I keep it in my drawer, I don’t know why… It looks pretty and matches my pencil cases. Talking about pencil cases, you may have realised that I have a couple… Why? Because, I have loads of pens and pencils, I try to keep them tidy and separate. For example, in the marble (YES marble…again) case I keep my coloured gel pens. Whereas, in my Ted Baker one I keep felt tip pens. I’m a very visual person so my notes are always colour coded! If you ever look at my notes, you’ll understand what I mean….

unnamed-7

Here is a final view of my desk. I hope you enjoyed this little tour… Thank you for reading. If you want me to check out your blog, follow, like and comment! I would love to check out your blogs. As I always say comment or email me any suggestions.

My Current Favourite Fragrances…

Hello Beautiful People,

Now again (last time, promise) I have to start a post with an apology… I was going to put two posts upon my blog, however I had some difficulties with the lighting and the photos weren’t exactly how I wanted them to be. In the end I got a bit frustrated… But after this post I’m going to publish another post yay!!

As you can see from the title, I will be telling you about my current favourite fragrances I use. These are scents I use all year around, I don’t use different perfumes for different seasons. Let’s get started!

unnamed-1

The first one is my all time favourite, it’s called ‘Chanel- Coco Mademoiselle. It is composed of Oranges, Jasmines, Rose, Patchouli and Vetiver and many more ingredients, but these are the main ones. I’m going to ask you to do something, imagine…Yes you read it right, try imagining me smelling my perfume and an orange with a confused expression. Why? Because I can’t smell the orange, but it’s more of a floral and fruity scent than strong and musky.  All I can say about this perfume is that it does grab the attention of people around you… I was at my university one day and I was about to collect my coursework from the social sciences department. I go in and give my name and student I.D. The lady there was browsing through the papers (keep in mind that I’m already nervous about my results)  and anyways she just stopped browsing, lifted her head and…SNIFFED literally SNIFFED the air! I was there thinking, what is going on and  she asked what I’m wearing and it was Coco Mademoiselle. There was a wide desk between us and it was in the afternoon, so the perfume is long-lasting and worth every penny!

The second perfume is called ‘Givenchy- Very Irrésistible’. The olfactory description of this perfume is made up of rose petals as the core (different types of roses-the list is endless), vanilla, and other ingredients. When you spray it on, you can immediately smell the floral and vanilla scent. I like to use this during night-time, when I go out with friends, as it does give a hint of sensualness. I can’t describe it but it is alluring…

The next three came in a miniature gift set and they are all from Lancome. The first one is called ‘Trésor In Love’ some of the main ingredients are; Turkish Rose, Jasmine and Cedar. Its not musky but very earthy and subtle. It doesn’t have a distinctive smell  but is an amazing day time perfume. When you take a whiff, you do smell the floral scents instantly. The second one is called, ‘Trésor’ it features notes of peach, apricot, rose and musk. It’s not fruity, it doesn’t smell like a MAC lipstick or roses, it is more on the muskier spectrum and is not overpowering I think this is a perfume that people can collectively like and it makes a lovely gift. The last one from this set (there are others but I picked my faves) is called ‘La Vie Est Belle’  which is a French expression for life is beautiful. Let me tell you one thing if you love sweet and floral scents this one is the one for you. The words I think of when I smell this is, delicate, joyful, feminine, elegant and fairytale.  I cannot stop smelling it, literally! It is amazing. I love it… The main ingredients in this one is; Iris, Jasmine, Orange Blossom and Patchouli. Go and try this out in the store, you’ll love it. Overall, each fragrance in this set are different, you have a choice of various fragrances to test out. The packaging for all of them are beautiful and easy to carry as it is small and handy for on the go!

unnamed-2

The last perfume is called ‘Prada-Candy’ I also enjoy wearing this one. It is my go to scent! The main ingredients in this fragrance are; Caramel, Vanilla, Benzoin and Musk. It is very playful yet sophisticated but joyful. It literally goes with anything you wear or do (climb a mountain and spray some Prada Candy on). However, if you are the type of person that does get dizzy when wearing overpowering fragrances then do be careful of this one as it has a mix of ingredients and not a fixed scent, it might affect you!

This was it for ‘My current Favourite fragrances’ if you enjoyed it please do like, comment and follow. If you have any suggestions please let me know, and I’ll try my best to do a blog post about it.

My Instagram is Thewhiterose.ela if you do want to check it out ❤

Thank you for reading and see you in my next post (coming sooner than you think).

My Favourite The Balm Eyeshadow Products…

Hello Beautiful People…

It feels like ages since I last made a blog post (only 5 days… but still I’m not use to not writing). Before I get started, I want to apologise for not being active, so to make it up I’ll be posting tomorrow (well today because it’s currently 00:32 am in England). Basically, two posts in one day! If you’re wondering what I’ve been up to… I’ve been very busy, doing shopping for my new house and I have to pack thing up only to unpack them again (yes moving is harder than it looks ) and on top of that I need to pack up for my holiday (which is 11 days away). So yeah its been quite chaotic…

unnamed-2
Anddd…This is how I’ve been dealing with my responsibilities! By procrastinating with the help of some cute Snapchat filters!

Now on to the main focus of this post! Since starting makeup, one of my fave brands to experiment with has been The Balm. I’ll admit the packaging was what caught my eye, it looks very playful and eye catchy. Of course, it caught my eye and buying one product lead to me buying another and then another (you get the idea) the cycle continues. I use their single eyeshadows and palettes most of the time when doing my makeup, especially if I want it to be very bold and out there. So, enough of me rambling and let’s get started.

unnamed-1

The first product is a single eyeshadow which is called the ‘Shady Lady’ in the colour ‘Luscious Lani’. It is a very pretty pink champagne colour. According to The Balm the product is formulated from specially pressed and finely milled pigments. This helps the product to not crease up or have that crumbled effect on the eyelid. It does not have chunks of glitter but has a shimmer to it that makes the eye POP! What I love about it, is that it’s easily buildable and blendable, you have control over the product. Keep in mind that these eyeshadows are meant to glow, I’m not even joking I use it as a highlighter sometimes.

unnamed-3

The second product is called ‘Mont Balm’ an ‘Eyeshadow Palette- For Girls On The Run.’ Starting from the top left the colours are, ‘Zermatt’ a shimmery charcoal colour,  one swipe of it is subtle but buildable. ‘Aspen’ a nice medium burgundy colour. ‘Whistler’ a shimmery taupe colour and ‘Cortina’ a neutral cream tone, perfect for a base  shadow. All the shadows except from ‘Cortina’ are shimmery and give a metallic effect. Whereas ‘Cortina’ is a matte colour. What I love about this palette is that it is perfect for throwing it in your bag and creating either a neutral or dramatic look.  Perfect for day time and night-time. It is also a nice gift for a special person who (like us) adores makeup.

unnamed-4

This third product has a special place in my heart as it was my first ever The Balm palette and trust me I hyped over it so much that I couldn’t put it away for the first couple of days…It was always in my hand and you get the idea, I was obsessed. This one’s called the ‘NUDE’tude‘ eyeshadow palette. It is formed of 12 eyeshadows both matte and shimmery. And no they’re are not all nude, which is what I love about it! We have some dark colours such as black, burgundy and dark brown. As well as a light brown, pink and white, these are all matte colours. We also have some shimmery pinks, nudes and darker tones. So, with this palette you can you can create a variety of looks, whether its neutral, medium or bold. The choice is yours…

unnamed-5

The fourth product is called ‘The Balm Voyage’  and boy do you become a voyager (okay! that was cheesy) but seriously! Just by looking at the package I feel the need to travel more. The palette includes nine eyeshadows that you can use dry or wet (longer lasting results when used wet), a bronzer, highlighter, two blushes and two lip and cheek creams (woah, I feel out of breath typing all that). In the photo below you will not see the lip and cheek creams as I actually don’t like them, so I wanted to focus on the main eyeshadows. But I have to admit the highlighter and bronzer look amazing on the skin.  My favourite look with this palette is… Using the ‘Tervetuloa’ for the crease and either ‘Bienvenue’ or ‘Benvenuto’ as the main lid colour, adding some highlighter on my brow bone and inner corner of my eye a swipe of mascara and Bonjour to the new look. I told you the palette does make you want to explore…  All the colours are pigmented so even though they look small a little bit goes a long way! Plus the palette is compact and useful to carry for those journeys where you don’t want to take a big make up bag filled with wonderful yet heavy makeup products.

unnamed-6

The last product is my favourite! Now I can’t remember when matte eyeshadows became very popular but when it did this palette was also becoming popular. This palette is called ‘Meet Matt(e) Nude’ I actually thought Matt was a real person. I know, moving on… If you were thinking the previous shadows looked small well this one is for you then! As these pans are large, like, this palette has lasted me a long time, which is amazing as I love them so much! As you can see they are everyday shades hence the name nude and they’re all matte so perfect for neutral toned makeup looks. What I love about this is like the others they are all pigmented even ‘Matt Malloy’ is true to its colour on the palette and on the skin. I like mixing these colours with my other palettes for example I love using ‘Matt Garcia’ for my crease and lower lash line and ‘Luscious Lani’ as my lid colour and inner corners. Mix and match people!! It gives you a choice of various colours to experiment and create different looks with, so I do believe that you get what you pay for. Trust me, this palette is worth it!!unnamed-7

Andddd that is it for this post guys! I hope you enjoyed it, if you have questions, suggestions or opinions do comment. If you want to see more of these reviews (which are NOT sponsored) like this post! As usual thank you for reading and following, and see you in my next post which will be up later today… My followers are from all around the world so I can’t keep up with the different time zones LOL! I’m sorry.

Stay happy my lovelies…

With Love,

Ela x.

My nominator, femmerewritten, asks:

-What made you start your blog, and what makes you stay?

Inspiration and courage. Two simple words. Yet they have such importance to me. I was inspired by all the bloggers and vloggers that I saw on Youtube and Instagram. I clicked on so many links, read so many blog posts and said to myself, ” One day, I want to do this, to be able to write about what I love and share this with people who also love it…” That one day never came… I use to put it behind, not feel confident in my abilities and felt that I wouldn’t be creative enough.  Then I came across, Les Brown, an American author and motivational speaker, he says,

“Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.”

-Les Brown

These words gave me the courage to take action, face my fears and that is how I created, ‘TheWhiteRose’. As for what makes me stay, the answer is YOU. My followers are the reason why I want to write. You don’t see the big cheesy smile I have when you, follow, comment or like. It means so much to me… And it gives me the courage and strive to create content that you all like and find useful. The more I write, the more I enjoy…

This was when I was at Hyde Park, London.

-If you had to write about one thing for the rest of your life what would it be?

Hmmm… I love writing about various things but if I had to pick one it would have to be, makeup. I love makeup and there are so many products out there, that I could, experiment and write about…

-Where do you draw your inspiration from?

Everything… Literally…I mean it! We are surrounded by technology so much that it is hard to miss all those motivating, inspiring and creative, posts about travelling, lifestyle, makeup, fashion and so much more. For example, my post about ‘What’s In My Bag?’ was inspired by Youtubers that made videos about their; uni bags, gym bags, travel bags and it made me want to write about mine. Inspiration for me is everything and everywhere…

Where is your favourite place to write?

I enjoy writing in my conservatory during days where its cold or rainy and outside in my garden during the warmer weather. I’m in the conservatory right now because it is now 23:11 pm in England and I don’t enjoy being out in the dark. I  also really like the sounds of birds chirping it helps me focus… I love writing in Cafe’s too, the atmosphere is upbeat and productive.

Accompanied by some colourful and delicious macarons!

-If you could be anywhere in the world, doing anything, with anyone, where would you be, what would you be doing, and who would you be doing it with?

Easy. In Santa Monica. At the Pacific Park, walking by the beach, swimming, sunbathing and getting on the Ferris Wheel with my two close friends…

Three things about myself:

  1.  I love writing…Obviously but not just for my blog, I write my own books and soon they’ll be on Wattpad for you lovelies who are interested to read…
  2. I love puppies and dogs… I adore them so much. I always wanted one but my mum is scared of them. I’m not joking, she left three year old me and while she was running for her life I was walking to my death. Literally. I was walking on the road and the dog’s owner chased after me, grabbed me then chased after his dog who was chasing after my mum. I know hectic. How do I know this? Well the dog’s owner was also the previous home owners. The story was mentioned loads…

My Current Skin Care Routine…

Hello Beauties,

Today I want to show you my skin care routine. As you may know taking care of our skin is and should be an important part of our daily life. Not only does your skin feel, clean and fresh, but when we clean our skin we also unclog our pores, remove unwanted bacteria and prevent spots from forming on our faces. So to conclude we NEED to take care of our skin. The products I am going to show you, have worked well for me, just bare in mind that we all have different skin types and our needs differ.

1. The first product is the GARNIER: Micellar Cleansing Water. I’m guessing you have heard of this product as its been very popular due to the level of positive reviews it has received. My skin care routine begins with me removing my make up. In this step I just pour the some of the product on to a cotton pad and remove my makeup using circular motions. REMEMBER: the eye area is very sensitive so make sure you are EXTRA gentle. This product does remove mascara and other excess make up easily. I do recommend it for you make up lovers that cannot remove those mascara stains without irritating the area!

2. The second step involves giving my face a quick wash to get rid of any excess make up using the Avène: Cleansing Gel. I love this product it lathers up nicely and makes my face feel fresh instantly. It gives my face a clean surface to work my other products on and removes oily and waxy substances that the sebaceous glands produce. I also use this product at night before going into bed!

3. This step I only do ONCE A WEEK as it is an intense detox mask by Soap and Glory, it is called the NO CLOGS ALLOWED: Super self heating deep pore detox mask. You only need a small amount (on the packaging it says a grape sized dab but how big is a grape?) a little goes along way and as soon as you put it on your face you will feel the heat (don’t worry it doesn’t burn you or anything) it just feels hot. When you apply this product you will have to scrub it on your face until it turns blue (it has worked on me and has changed colour) and you wait five minutes then wash your face. GUYS… Please don’t rub that towel on your face with such force gentle pats are advised, don’t irritate your skin as this is an intense cleansing mask, we don’t want any harsh movements.

4. I love this step! Why? Because I really enjoying using cleansers that are in a foam form. It makes my face feel like baby skin. The foaming cleanser I currently use is the SAMPAR: Dry CleanSing- No-rinse foaming make up cleanser. Even though it states that you don’t have to rinse it, I always have to rinse my face. What I do is apply this on my face and use the BRAUN: Face cleansing brush. Now I know you’re wondering why I would use the brush after using an intense face mask but the brushes are so soft and doesn’t irritate my skin. I use it gently, lightly and again in a circular motion. I rinse my face and pat it dry.

5. This step feels so relaxing, it’s like taking a short trip to heaven! No I’m not exaggerating. After the step above I use the Avène: Thermal Spring Water and just spray it all over my face and boy does it feel good! All I can say is that it is soothing and anti- irritating. You can use this to cool down any rashes or after waxing, epilating shaving or just to for a quick cool down!

6. The last and final step is a nice hydrating face cream. The one I use is the Avène: Optimale Rich Hydrating Cream (for dry to very dry sensitive skin). I really like this brand so its safe to say that I really like the moisturiser. It feels very hydrating and really helps with the dry areas that I sometimes get (especially during the winter). I apply this morning, night and maybe during the day when my skin needs hydration.

So, that is all to my skin care routine, I hope you enjoyed it. If you have any requests or questions, please do get in contact. I have loads of blog topics to talk about and cannot wait to share them with you.

My Haircare Essentials…

Hello…Again Beautiful People.

I know I put up a new post yesterday (links here if you want to see what’s in my bag) but I really wanted to put up another blog post as I really enjoy writing about things I love and sharing them with you. I have been using these products for a while and have seen changes in the texture, thickness and hydration.

Before I get started I want to tell you a bit about my hair. My hair was very dry (still gets dry but not as much) especially towards the ends, this is because I have used so many chemicals on my hair including; home dye (I bleached my hair too many times and all I can say is that I’m lucky to still have thick hair), salon dye, extensive usage of heat tools topped off with constant use of various products within a short period of time. It is safe to say that I never let my hair breathe or rest, I was never happy with its natural waves it was too ‘frizzy’ for me. I had a professional opinion from an expert colourist who said that if I carry on bleaching my hair I could be affected by hair loss the phrase ‘more blonder the better’ vanished in that instant that day was the last time I ever wanted to go platinum blonde. I naturally have thick hair and I became very appreciative of this, instead of following the current hair trend I decided to face reality and take care of my hair.

Below are the products I use…

IMG_1740

  1. OGX Hydrating Macadamia Oil Shampoo:  I love macadamia oil and many of the products I use have this in them. Why? Because it hydrates the hair and gets rid of  the straw like texture. Instead of having hard and dry strands your hair starts to feel and appear soft, moisturised and shiny.  This shampoo is specifically for hair that needs hydration.
  2. OGX Hydrating Macadamia Oil Conditioner: I like using products from the same brand as the constant use of different products damaged my hair. I used to brush my hair (lightly) and my brush would be covered with strands of weak hair and I couldn’t understand what product caused it due to the use of so many products. This conditioner not only nourishes the hair but easily detangles it. It helps with split-ends and not only looks healthy but also feels healthy and strong.
  3. OLAPLEX HAIR PERFECTOR: This product is not for everyone, I advise people that have had or has chemicals in the hair to use it. The product claims to “reconnect broken disulfide sulfur bonds in the hair.” I’m not a hair expert either but basically it makes the hair strands stronger and decreases the amount of damage caused by chemicals. I apply this from the mid section of the hair  (I have never dyed my roots) to the ends of my hair. I like to leave it overnight, rinse it off the next day and then use my shampoo and conditioner.  Remember to apply it to unwashed hair. You won’t see the affects overnight but within a couple weeks I have seen a decrease in hair loss. I use this product during times I use harsh chemicals which is not often.
  4. MACADAMIA PROFESSIONAL NOURISHING MOISTURE MASQUE: This is the only hair mask I use and like the shampoo and conditioner it hydrates, reconstructs, revitalise’s and repairs damaged hair. It is very flexible to use, once or twice  depending on the hair’s need.
  5.  MACADAMIA NATURAL OIL HEALING OIL SPRAY: I love, love and love (x1000) this product so much, it is unbelievable. As the name states this product has healed my hair and brought it back to the thickness and texture it had before I ever dyed my hair. I am so pleased with it, it doesn’t feel thick, heavy or greasy on the hair. In fact, it has the opposite effect. Not only does my hair feel soft and shiny, it is manageable and appears as its been treated in a salon.
  6. OGX Argan Oil of Morocco: I don’t use this oil often only if I want my hair to have that extra shine and to tame it. Previously I used hair mousse and hair spray to tame and style my hair but it left it so dry and felt really clumpy that it was a no no from me. Instead I add argan oil which tames the frizziness, helps with the split ends and makes the hair more vibrant which is what I love thick, soft and bouncy hair.

IMG_1738

These are all of my haircare essentials… The products have not only helped my hair become more strong, thick, soft and hydrated but also has made me become more positive and more appreciative of natural hair. I used to admire the blonde that I never could achieve, always had a need to go blonder and never cared about the condition of my hair until I was going through hair loss, dryness and thinness.  The best advice I can give you is to appreciate, love and care for what you have and never feel pressured to change the way you look because its stylish, trendy and popular. Trust me! You are beautiful the way you are…

If you have come this far, thank you for reading, liking, commenting and following. I hope you found this post helpful! Also, I would love for you to suggest any blog posts you want me to write about. Comment below any ideas and I will try my best to post about it.

What’s In My Bag? (Summer Edition)…

Hello Beautiful People,

In today’s post I want to show you, what’s in my bag. I don’t know about you guys but I love looking at what people carry in their bag. Call it being nosy or just plain curiosity, looking at what people carry is a way of getting inspired and it gives you ideas on what you could be carrying! As you may know by now, I finished my second year of university. So…hell yess to no more having to carry heavy bags filled with; notebooks, reading books, laptop and a whole lot of other stuff that causes your shoulder to ache (who can relate?) In this edition you will see what I carry during summer, whether its going to shopping, sight seeing or meeting friends for a day out.

Before I get started, I want to talk about the bag itself…

img_1710-1.png

My bag is from H&M- I wish I can attach a link for you guys to check it out but I checked the website and they don’t have it anymore! It sucks because this bag sold out so quickly. I originally wanted the black colour but the next day it was gone and boyyy did I check, not just online but the stores in Oxford Street and Westfield in London but nope not a chance… I was lucky to find one in grey! This is called a shopper bag, its reversible but I use the imitation leather as the exterior as the suede will just get dirty easily. Its very lightweight, feels like you’re carrying a cloud rather than a bag and its spacious with no compartments. You ready to take a peek into the bag? Waits…No Reply… I’ll take that as a yes!

IMG_1719

I’m first just going to answer you’re question… Why the hell is she carrying an umbrella if its summer? Well… If you live in England like me, no matter the weather you need an umbrella. It could be the hottest day, you may be ready to go out and chill in the garden, ready to take in that vitamin D and guess what? The next minute you will be soaked with rain. So, yeah an umbrella is a must!

The next item I carry is a a small white and grey pouch it looks like snake skin but its fake! Can you see that Mickey Mouse? Yeah! Thats my keychain, I have my keys in that pouch because, once upon a time, a clumsy Ela chucked her keys in her bag carelessly and later on found out that she cracked her phone screen… Nope, I didn’t have a protector on. So, after a upsetting lesson I now carry my keys in a zip up pouch.

I carry my sunglasses in my bag all the time. Do I wear it? Errr nope… Only on days when my vision is extremely affected by the blinding sun. This may sound silly but when I have sunglasses on my eyes feel a bit claustrophobic. Yep, that makes no sense but my eyes need to breathe guys! That sounds sillier, moving on…

I recently told another blogger on WordPress that I loved her nails because she had this amazing marble design… If she sees this, she’ll understand my obsession when looking at my notebook.  I bet that gave you a hint on what I’m going to talk about next. Yes! I carry a notebook, especially within this time period as I’m about to move to a new house with two of my friends (we renting for our third year of uni) and I’m a visual person, I need to write down and be able to see a list in order to feel organised and I keep dates of when rent needs to be paid and contact numbers of companies and all the other adult stuff that I’m not ready to do right now.

Another item I carry that is a must is my purse… which is from a store called Stradivarious- its a glitter purse with  metal plate trim. I love it because its very sturdy, it has a strong zip (watch me jinx it now) and fits literally all of my stuff. Cards, coins, receipts and vouchers is all in there. It only cost me £9.99 and is currently on sale. Here is the link- Stradivarious Purse

The last thing I carry is my makeup bag! In it I carry;

  1. Aveeno hand cream- you need those hands moisturised. Always!
  2. A compact mirror- for touch ups and to remove that mascara that found its way to the side of my eye.
  3. Aspirin- I don’t overdose on it but it does help with the headaches.
  4. A roll on perfume- I hate carrying full size bottles of spray or perfume.
  5. Caudalíe Lip Conditioner- its not only the hands that need nourishment.
  6. Elizabeth Arden Lash Extending Treatment Mascara- believe it or not sometimes I forget to apply mascara so imagine me on the bus trying not to poke my eye…yep not fun.
  7. Chantecaille Lipstick in the colour ‘Camellia’-  I asked my dad to describe the colour he went it looks like the colour of a brick… That is the last time I ask him A question like that! No guys, its a very pretty rose colour not too deep not too light it has no sparkle but high shine. Treat yourselves people! You deserve it…

That is all that is in my bag… Thank you for joining me in another post. As always I want to thank you guys for reading, liking, commenting and following it means a lot. I try to check out all your blogs so just comment below and I will read it. Its interesting for me to see what you guys post and the posts out there are all inspiring and motivating. So keep going guys! Never give up there are people that enjoy what you pOST (including me!)
